Austin the perfect long weekend destination!

With the heat reaching the 100s this is the perfect guide for balancing hotel time with sightseeing all while keeping cool.

Friday

Arrive around 8pm, head to one of the fabulous hotels in the downtown Austin area. I would personally recommend the JW Marriott. With more than 3 restaurants, this bar is walking distance to the infamous 6th street and just a short ride or walk to South Congress area.

After cleaning up at your hotel room head to 6th Street for dinner and live music.

Backspace Pizza would be my #1 recommendation for dinner. This cute and quaint wine bar has delicious pizza, a wide selection of wines and cocktails and the perfect meat and cheese boards. I recommend ordering the mozzarella to share and then the meat or cheese board followed by a pizza *Don't forget to order prosciutto*

After dinner the world is your oyster. Hit up all of the bars you can on 6th Street and dance the night away!

Saturday

You will be exhausted trust me! Sleep in a bit and then head to South Congress for lunch at Torchy's Tacos is one of the more popular taco joints in Austin so we had to check it out. TBH I have no idea what we ordered but it was all so DAMN GOOD I didn't even care.

Afterwards (assuming its not too unbearably hot) walk around South Congress, make sure to check out the Impeccable Pig, By George, Maya Star, Lucy in Disguise (a crazy costume store), and Uncommon Objects is cool too. There are a lot of fun places all up & down that street so feel free to walk both ways. There is also the infamous 'I love you so much' graffiti wall located at Jo's coffee.

If you are lucky enough to score a reservation at Uchi you will not be disappointed. This amazing sushi restaurant has one numerous awards and serves up creative hot and cold dishes-not just your average upscale fresh fish.

Afterwards head to Rainey Street for the best nightlife. I recommend the Container Bar made strictly from shipping containers.

Sunday

Recover from your night out with one of the best brunches Austin has to offer at the South Congress Cafe or SCC has variety of options from Tex-Mex to Short Rib Hash and everything in between. Grab a can of spray paint and head to the Graffiti Park at Castle Hill, also know as the Hope Gallery. Not only is this Graffiti Park a must see, so are the views of Austin.

Interested in some history? A short scooter ride down from your hotel is the Texas State Capitol. I recommend checking to see for the times of the free tours. Head back to Rainey Street for some day drinking. Take a break and head to Terry Black's BBQ. They close at 9pm so make sure you get in line before then! Order one of everything (including the sides) and you won't be disappointed. If you have enough time make sure to check out the bats that fly over the Congress Bridge (this all depends on the season).

Monday

Before catching your flight home head to Elizabeth Street Cafe for BOMB Vietnamese food and delicious cocktails. About .1 miles from the restaurant is the Greetings from Austin Mural that you should definitely snap an Instagram at if you have time! There's plenty to do and see in Austin including art museums, aquariums, and parks. Ever been to Austin? I'm definitely going to go back! Leave me a comment and let me know your fave Austin hotspots.
