Why You Need This Luggage

Been to an airport recently? Then I am sure you’ve seen the new suitcase trend hitting the streets. Away luggage is an up and coming luggage brand that is changing the way we travel. By eliminating the middle man, Away is able to sell their luggage straight to the consumer (thus charging less). Since getting my Away luggage back int 2016 I can’t say enough good things about it (PS this post is not sponsored at all, I honestly just love this luggage!) With a variety of different sizes and colors you are sure to find one you like and fits into your travel routine effortlessly.

There is nothing more frustrating than being on the road, excited for your next adventure, when suddenly your luggage won’t cooperate on the cobblestone path to your hotel, or through the metro station in Japan. Well that being said Away luggage can withstand even the toughest travel scenarios. With a new goal of hitting as many countries as I can I knew I would need luggage that was light weight but durable, stylish but not flashy, doesn’t coast an arm and a leg and lastly is secure.

One of the best things about the Away luggage is that each suitcase comes with a TSA approved lock that you can set your own combination to. That means no one can get into your stuff. Perfect for staying at hostels, Airbnbs and even on trains! They also come with a laundry bag perfect for protecting your clean clothes from your dirty clothes and a compression pad that helps free up space.

The Truth behind the sizing

Away offers two different carry-on options, the Bigger Carry On is geared towards more international flights and larger planes while the normal Carry On is for domestic flights. Check out the chart below to see which suitcase is right for you!

They also have a medium and a large suitcase for your checked baggage needs. The medium carries about 10-14 outs perfect for a 7-14 days and the large carries about 15+ outfits (depending on your packing style) and is perfect for those journeys over 2 weeks.

What I love about away is luggage is the wide variety of colors that they offer. They also offer hand monogramming and stickers that are super cute so you can customize your bag in a hundred different ways. From time to time they will also do limited release sets and colors, I was lucky enough to snag a Gray Malin limited edition carry-on.

My picks if having to start fresh with a new set of luggage are the Medium and the Carry-on

The medium is the perfect bag for an over packer such as myself. Working a 9-5 job I typically can only skip town for around 10 days and this bag is perfect. The 4 wheels allow for ease when traveling through rough terrain (trust me I traveled through cobblestone streets, dirty roads, and Japanese metro stations with this bad boy). What I like most about this suitcase is that its very easy to organize with two compartments. One meant for softer things (clothing) and one meant for harder things such as toiletries, shoes, bags, etc. The nice thing about one of the sides it a compression strap to strap down your clothes so you have more room! What else is nice is that each bag comes with a laundry bag. This was a lifesaver on my trip to Bali when I had dirty or sweaty clothing.

The carry-on is the perfect size for when you have a quick weekend getaway and don’t want to pay for those checked bags fees. The carry-on visits on all major airlines in the United States as well. I was able to fit enough clothes for almost an entire week in this bag! One of the best parts about this bag is the battery. If you are on your phone a lot this is the bag for you. There are two different ports one that speeds at a standard speed and one at a faster speed. The battery will charge an iPhone up to 5 times before needing to be recharged. The battery is completely legal but sometimes you may run into issues with TSA, for that reason there is a sticker on the bottom explaining its legality.

Completing your travel uniform

Recently I purchased the Everywhere bag, to completely my on-the-go uniform. The everywhere bag is the perfect bag to compliment your carry-on bag. On a recent trip to Chicago I was able to fit my 13inch laptop, a notebook, a DSLR Camera, a travel pouch filled with toiletries, sunglasses, full sized wallet and even a spare outfit and still had room! This bag meets all airlines personal item requirements. This bag also features a removable shoulder strap, hidden exterior and interior pockets, and a zippered waterproof umbrella pocket.

The best part about this bag is that is designed to seamlessly slide over the handle of any Away suitcase!
For the organized traveler Away also has their own packing cubes. I was gifted a set of these packing cubes in white and cannot say enough good things about them! These packing cubes are made of nylon to protect against water but also feature a mesh top perfect for being able to find what you need without unpacking your entire suitcase. The way these packing cubes are designed allow you to perfectly organize them in both the carry-on and the bigger carry-on.
